CoreENGINE is the driving force behind the
CoreCard products. As the underlying technology platform it is the result of a research
and development effort by the Research and Development group spun off from PaySys
international, the creators of VisionPlus®.
CoreENGINE was designed to reduce the cost of implementing,
running and maintaining card management software on expensive mainframe systems.
The CoreCard products offer fault tolerant processing throughput on Intel®, UNIX®
or Linux® based hardware. CoreENGINE’s use of shared components and parameter
driven setup creates a unique environment that eliminates many of the challenges
often encountered during credit card processing implementations using other software.

UNIVERSAL PLATFORM
CoreENGINE is a fully extensible, real-time
universal card management system platform for providing support to our card processing
and lending solutions. Its meta-data driven architecture enables the rapid development
and deployment of our card management applications.
Comprised of two layers, CoreENGINE’s the top layer houses a library of general
financial functions such as posting and transaction processing, message types, rules
and workflows, etc. These serve as building blocks for all CoreENGINE-enabled applications.
Component functions have been implemented in a generic fashion so that consumer
and commercial lending systems beyond card-type applications can be developed on
one platform. The interaction of the top and bottom layers gives all CoreCard financial
applications their advanced capabilities.

Real-Time Posting – Always current interest, account balance
and other calculations supported by CoreENGINE-enabled applications.
Customizable Workflows – A universal rules-based workflow engine manages
the assignment and routing of work among all processing units and end-users for
any given application without additional programming.
Unlimited Hierarchies – Enables unparalleled flexibility, complex authorization
and other processing rules.
Inheritance –
All CoreENGINE-enabled systems allow attributes and features to retain their characteristics
down the levels of a hierarchy. A piece of information only needs to be entered
once and can be reused or inherited at any lower level within the same hierarchy.
System Independence – Compatible with all enterprise
operating environments including Windows®, Linux® and various flavors of
UNIX.
Hardware and Configuration Independence – Applications run on any Intel®
or similar chipset based hardware.
Scalability – Processors can be added as peak workloads increase.
Fault-Tolerance – Should one processor fail, embedded system logic
routes transactions to the next available processor.
Database Independence – Industry leading database management systems,
SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, etc., are supported.
User Interface Independence – Windows and Web interfaces are supported
without additional application programming.

Communications and Networking Protocols – Network protocols are encapsulated
in the platform and new ones can be added without affecting applications. Supported
methods include TCP/IP (intranet or Internet), IPC, in-memory
queues and flat files.
